- Can I ship frozen embryos/oocytes/sperm to Georgia?
- Yes, you can. For surrogacy, special documentation for each type of frozen material is required before shipment and which later are used for baby registration to obtain the birth certificate. For transfers to the intended parent, only clinic medical reports are satisfactory.
- What documents do I need when I ship frozen embryos for surrogacy?
- You will need a marriage certificate, Power of Attorney, embryo authenticity report, embryo creation report, and blood tests for infectious diseases from both parents.
- May I use donor egg or sperm-created embryos in Georgia for surrogacy?
- If anonymous donors were used, these embryos cannot be used for surrogacy. For known donors, you will need a passport copy, Power of Attorney, and clinic confirmation of their donor status. With these documents, embryos can be considered for transfer to a surrogate.
- If I had PGS done on the embryos, may I still consider transferring embryos to the surrogate mother that were proven abnormal or with mosaicism?
- We only accept embryos that have passed PGS screening and are tested as normal. Abnormal embryos are not approved for transfer due to low success rates and health risks.
- Is shipment of the materials safe?
- Yes, it is safe with hand-carry shipping companies that ensure materials are collected and delivered directly to the clinic. They manage customs and airport procedures to prevent X-ray exposure.
- How to select the shipping company?
- We recommend companies based on our experience and that of our intended parents. Consider well-established companies with a strong reputation, competitive rates, and reasonable delivery times.
- Can my materials be damaged during shipping?
- In our extensive experience, we have never received damaged materials. Shipping companies use large containers that safely store materials for 5-7 days, even in the event of delays. Containers have journey history recorders to track nitrogen levels throughout transit, reviewed by the medical team upon arrival.
- Can I ship out some frozen materials outside Georgia?
- According to Georgian regulations, frozen materials can indeed be shipped out of Georgia.
